World Help responds to illness in the Congo
Monday, November 16, 2009
The Democratic Republic of Congo is an area that is in desperate need of medicinal supplies.
The Congolese people are subjected to an array of health problems, most of which are a result of malnutrition and particularly a lack of protein. There is a high susceptibility to malaria, typhoid fever, HIV/AIDS, and Ebola, and the lack of a health infrastructure in this depleted area only continues to worsen the situation.
To respond to the needs there, World Help recently joined hands with other humanitarian groups, including the Jatukik Providence Foundation, to send a large cargo container of medicine and health supplies for those who need it most.

The areas aided by this cargo container include the Bandundu Province, Bas-Congo, the Equateur Region, and the surrounding areas of Kinshasa—places populated by over 19 million people. In total, there are 55 hospitals and 15 health stations to assist the rural areas.
A high percentage of the people who will benefit from the shipment are childbearing women, children, and infants.
A press release from the Jatukik Providence Foundation, a group that has been striving to improve the lives of Congolese people for the past decade, says their “capacity for assisting the Congolese people has drastically been increased” because of the aid of World Help and other partnering organizations.
