World Help Airlifting Aid Into Haiti

Friday, January 15, 2010

Forest, Virginia

$1 million of medical supplies left Miami in a plane that will arrive in Port-au-Prince later today.  As the port there remains clogged and in chaos, World Help President Vernon Brewer made the decision to airlift aid and supplies to Haiti.  “The survivors of the catastrophe simply cannot wait any longer for food, water, and medicine.”  Mr. Brewer will be going to Haiti within the next few days to personally assess the situation, debrief with World Help rapid response team and determine what the very critical next steps should be.

An additional $2.5 million in aid had already arrived from World Help shortly before the earthquake hit.  This shipment of supplies included medicine, supplies for medical triage units, food staples and many OTC medications.

With an additional $20 million of aid ready to be sent to Haiti, World Help is working to raise the funds needed for shipping.

The greatest need right now is cash to pay for the shipping and distribution of humanitarian aid. As the rescue and restoration continues in Haiti, the types of aid and supplies accepted will be limited based on the assessments of the military and the government. For more information:
